Objectives At the completion of this subject students should be able to understand the business strategies of different organisations; appreciate the structure and functionality of management software; understand the essential aspects of contemporary productive systems; and be familiar with international quality standards.
Synopsis This subject studies operations management in manufacturing and service organisations. Topics include financial calculations, an introduction to computer software systems in a management context, production planning and control, materials requirements planning, project management, just-in-time systems and the ISO9000 standards. The subject will also look at different types of organisations and their business strategies.
Assessment Assignments: 40% - Examination (2 hours): 60% - Students must pass the examination in order to pass the subject
