Objectives To provide an understanding of operating system concepts. Main-frame and PC environments, their tools, facilities and usage.

Synopsis Operating systems concepts for both single-user and multi-user environments. Multi-tasking systems concepts. Process management, memory management, security and file systems. Systems to be covered may include UNIX, DOS, Windows, Windows 95 and Windows NT. Network related issues and the world wide web. Java as a programming language of choice for web applications.
