Objectives The student is expected to acquire a basic knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of electrical and electronics circuits.
Synopsis Nature of electricity, voltage, current, frequency. Signals: their measurement and display. Passive components: resistance, inductance and capacitance and typical circuits. Semiconductors and electronic components: diodes, transistors and integrated circuits. Circuits and characteristics of typical analogue electronic circuits - power supplies, amplifiers, operational amplifiers. Circuits and characteristics of typical digital electronic circuits - logical circuits. The use of computer software in electronic circuit analysis.
Assessment Practical work, laboratory work, tests: 30% · Examination (3 hours): 70%
