Objectives The present environment for graduate scholars makes it difficult to acquire the appreciation of the research process; this traditionally was achieved through an apprenticeship relationship with supervisors. The object of this course is to expose in condensed form the principles, and some of the practice, which is generally expected in the world of scientific research, and to the application in the university milieu.

Synopsis Formal logic. Hypothesis; experiment; presentation of scientific argument. Funding; the philosophy of research; the intellectual tradition.

Assessment Formal written examination: 50% · Assignment: 50%
