4 points · 22 lecture hours, 6 tutorials and 9 laboratory hours · Second semester · Clayton · Prerequisites: MEC3406

Objectives To develop skills in analysing, modelling and solving industrial structural and machine dynamics problems and an understanding of the use of finite element analysis, frequency analysers, modal analysis packages and vibration shaker techniques.

Synopsis Equations of motion for rectangular plates, solution techniques and beam function approaches. Use of frequency parameters for engineering solutions. FEA of plates and numerical methods for solution to transient problems. Modal analysis of structures employing FFT analysers and modal analysis software.
