Objectives To provide experience in the solution of problems involving fluid motion in the real world, to introduce flows of environmental importance, to provide some experience of planning and conducting a field data collection exercise.
Synopsis Introduction to the principles of tides, estuarine flows, waves, fluid mixing, dilution of wastes, plume motions. Planning and conducting a field data collection exercise: scientific plan, calibrations, equipment, logistics, data analysis and modelling, reporting.
Assessment Written: 30% · Fieldwork: 70%
