Objectives The student is expected to gain a basic understanding of terotechnology and lifecycle costs of equipment. The student is expected to acquire a basic knowledge of the maintenance role in the lifecycle cost of equipment. Through this subject, the student is expected to develop familiarity with the key aspects of maintainability, reliability and availability.
Synopsis (1) Introduction to asset management and terotechnology. Profitability of an organisation through lifecycle cost optimisation. (2) Introduction to asset management systems that can be used to ensure that maintenance costs are considered throughout the lifecycle of equipment. (3) Techniques concerned with decisions to buy or replace major units of plant. (4) Introduction to the effect of installation and commissioning practice on the maintenance cost and lifecycle of an asset.
