Structural engineering II

S Setunge

5 points · 39 lecture hours and 26 design classes · First semester · Gippsland · Prerequisites: GEG2303

Objectives The student is expected to develop a deeper understanding of the behaviour of structural elements under complex loading conditions and the theory leading to provisions in relevant design standards. The student is expected to develop skills in the ability to design structural elements under more complex loads.

Synopsis Design of reinforced concrete beams, slabs and short columns. Analysis and design of steel compression members, steel beams for lateral torsional buckling, thin plate steel elements in shear, buckling, bending and bearing, steel structural elements under combined actions. Relevant design standards.

Assessment Examination: 70% · Assignments: 30%
