Objectives The student is expected to develop an understanding of the overall structure and nature of electrical energy systems, a knowledge of local and global energy resources and usage and an understanding of the analysis techniques and controls applied to modern electrical power systems and of the issues relating to distribution systems and quality of supply.
Synopsis Structure of electric power systems, load flow analysis, fault analysis, voltage and frequency control in power systems, transient and dynamic stability in power systems, distribution systems, quality of supply issues.
Assessment Examination (2 hours): 50% · Special assignment: 30% · Laboratory work: 20%
