M Liu

3 points · 26 lectures and 12 laboratory hours · First semester · Clayton · Prerequisites: ECS2360 · Corequisites: ECS3311

Objectives The student is expected to be able to obtain mathematical models of physical systems, to develop an understanding of the relationship between state space and transfer function models and to be able to design feedback controllers to meet performance specifications.

Synopsis Mathematical models of electrical, hydraulic, mechanical and thermal systems, solution of state space equations, equivalent state space equations, canonical forms, controllability and observability, transfer functions, block diagrams, stability of feedback systems, Nyquist and Bode plots, controller design using Bode plots, system sensitivity and stability robustness.

Assessment Examination (2 hours): 85% · Laboratory work: 15%
