Objectives This subject introduces marketing and planning principles. These include planning for the company, markets, the marketing mix and the business plan and principles of quality management. Aspects of public sector business, the government and privatisation are linked to legal issues relating to engineers. Topics introduced at this level because of their immediate relevance to engineering graduates include project management, financial reporting and budgets, the role of the professional engineer and professional ethics.
Synopsis This subject will introduce engineering students to marketing and planning principles. Included in the marketing segment are planning for the company, markets, the marketing mix. The business plan and principles of quality management are investigated. Aspects of public sector business, the government and privatisation are linked to legal issues relating to engineers. Students are provided with the fundamentals of project management, financial reporting and budgets and introduced to the role of the professional engineer and professional ethics.
