Objectives The student is expected to understand the organisation and design of contemporary processors with an emphasis on reduced instruction set computer (RISC) systems.

Synopsis Computer systems organisation and design including performance measurement; instruction sets; arithmetic; datapath and control implementation; pipelining; memory organisation and input/output.

Assessment Examination (3 hours): 70% · Laboratory and Assignment work: 30%
