Objectives To develop the skills associated with managing and running a construction project.

Synopsis The subject examines the broad area of construction and its place in civil engineering. Particular emphasis is given to the lifecycle of an engineering project and advanced construction techniques for medium and large developments. The role of construction management, types of management, scheduling, cost estimation, safety and environmental issues in construction are considered. Specialised techniques for foundation systems AS3610 concrete formwork code, precast and prestress concrete are also considered.
