Objectives The student is expected to gain a basic knowledge of the principles and practice of traffic management and transport engineering and the role of the traffic engineer in a multidisciplinary approach to the solution of traffic and environmental problems.
Synopsis The traffic engineering profession, road hierarchy, design of road and street networks, traffic management, traffic and parking surveys, traffic impact analysis, treatment of hazardous road locations, parking, design and planning for pedestrians and cyclists, public transport, environmental and energy impacts of traffic systems, intelligent transport systems.
Assessment Examination: 50% · Class participation: 10% · Tutorials: 10% · Assignments and reports: 30%
