Management and control in the pulp and paper industry

Objectives The student is expected to acquire a basic knowledge and understanding of how paper making operations are managed and controlled, the types and operating characteristics of measurement instruments used on the paper machine, the use of production scheduling computer packages, the dynamic behaviour of paper machine basis weight and moisture control.

Synopsis Essential management topics; mill-wide control; production scheduling in the paper industry; basics of specific measurement instruments and automation.
