Objectives The student is expected to become familiar with various polymer processing operations; rheology and flow behaviour of polymer melts and solutions; and the fundamental principles by which one can analyse a variety of polymer flow processes.

Synopsis Rheology and flow behaviour of polymeric systems - Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluids. Viscometric and material functions. Selection of polymer processing operations including extrusion, calendering, coating, fibre spinning, film blowing and injection moulding.
