To
educate information professionals to manage information in all media to meet
the social and business needs of the community for information services and
products.
To provide a professional course in recordkeeping grounded in the humanities
and social sciences, and contemporary information and communication
technology.
To produce independent, self-sufficient professionals able to work in a range
of roles, as an employee, team member, contractor or self-employed practitioner.
Accreditation of this new course is being sought from the Australian Society of Archives and the Records Management Association of Australia.
Applicants must have qualified for a bachelors degree at Monash University or at another tertiary institution approved by the faculty. Special entry provisions are also in place to enable admission into the Graduate Diploma in Information Management (Recordkeeping) to those without formal tertiary qualifications who can establish that they have the foundation required for postgraduate studies in these fields.
Students need to have access to a PC with a CD Rom drive and a modem. Access to the Internet, email and a Web browser (such as Netscape Navigator or Internet Explorer) via a commercial service provider.
Occasional weekend schools at Clayton campus for LAR4002.
The course of study is one year full-time or two-three years part-time. All subjects are compulsory.
Students can enter in either first or second semester.
Assessment is a combination of projects, exercises and open book tests.
There is provision for advanced standing and credit transfer. This will be finalised after offer.
