The course has a strong practical emphasis, enabling students to adapt their work to the particular requirements of their situation. As a result the course is able to cater to the full range of educational settings, from kindergarten through primary and post-primary to TAFE and tertiary teaching. The diploma is a recognised fourth year equivalent but also may carry course credit for further study at masters level.
Completion of the Graduate Diploma of Education (Computers in Education) will enable secondary qualified and registered teachers to satisfy Victorian Ministry requirements for the secondary subject area -- information technology.
The normal entry requirement is an approved degree or three-year diploma and a recognised teaching qualification.
Prospective students must have access to a personal computer and modem.
Students are required to complete the following subjects over two years part-time by distance education:
All subjects are assessed by assignment work.
Normally no credits and exemptions are granted toward the course. However, if it is considered that exactly the same subjects have been completed at tertiary level prior to commencing the Graduate Diploma of Education (Computers in Education) then credits/exemptions will be considered.
