Monash University's Distance Education Centre is a national and
international provider of distance education courses. The main office of the
centre, located at the Gippsland campus, coordinates and produces the necessary
resources to enable students to complete the major part, if not all, of their
course without attendance on campus.
Fully accredited diplomas, bachelors and combined degrees, graduate
certificates/diplomas, honours and masters degrees are available by distance
education. A recent addition is the executive certificate -- a non-award
course where a certificate of completion is issued to successful
candidates by the faculty rather than the university.
In 1999, 111 courses will be offered by distance education from the faculties
of Art and Design, Arts, Business and Economics, Information Technology,
Education, Engineering, Medicine (including the School of Nursing), Science,
Victorian College of Pharmacy, and the Monash Mount Eliza Business School.
