The subject gives a general introduction to the following areas: the properties of atomic nuclei; the principles of spectroscopy; wave-particle duality and the Schrodinger equation; electronic structure and bonding; properties of coordination compounds; properties of solids and liquids; electrochemistry; properties of transition elements; the reactions and structures of coordination compounds; organic compounds including carbonyl compounds; amines, aromatic compounds and some biologically important compounds; inorganic applications such as ceramics and semiconductors; chemical analysis.
