Objectives The objectives of this subject are to explain the relationship between strategic logistics planning and strategic/corporate planning within the organisation; to help students prepare and construct a strategic logistics plan; to develop and enhance appropriate written and oral communications, and analytical skills required for the effective presentation of a logistics plan.
Synopsis Topics include operational planning and system control; information requirements for planning, definition of detailed objectives, conducting a logistics audit, monitoring and controlling to achieve plans. Forward planning including future logistics investment, generation and assessment of strategic options, contribution of logistics to corporate profits and relationship between logistics strategy and corporate plans.
