Objectives On completion of this subject students should understand the major components of the strategic management process; the factors influencing successful strategic people management; how the management of the industrial relationship is integrated and interacts with organisational strategy; and recent concepts, issues and trends in the strategic management of people
Synopsis The subject is designed to provide students with an appreciation of the importance of industrial relations in the management of organisations - including private and public sector enterprises and trade unions. The approach used is to require students to consider the various strategic responses available to parties to industrial relations through a variety of means, including case studies, speakers and student presentations.
Assessment Written (assignments 4000 words): 40% · Take-home examination: 60%
