Objectives At the completion of this subject students will have been exposed to the wide range of theories that have shaped managerial thinking and practice. They will possess an in-depth knowledge of such theories, and the debates and controversies surrounding these theories. Students will also have gained an appreciation of the significance of these theories for management practice.
Synopsis This subject analyses different schools of thought in management and considers them from both a developmental and contemporaneous perspective. Theories will be considered from various viewpoints, including organisational behaviour, scientific management and bureaucracy.
Assessment Two individual assignments (3000 words each): 80% · Group presentation: 20%

Synopsis This subject analyses different schools of thought in management and considers them from both a developmental and contemporaneous perspective. Social, ethical and cultural aspects of management are also considered.
