Objectives On completion of this subject students should be able to demonstrate an understanding of the role communication and negotiations play in international operations; an understanding of the principles of effective cross-cultural communication; knowledge of the negotiation process; a critical appreciation of the links between culture, economics and organisations.

Synopsis Factors affecting the communication process; cross-cultural differences in communication modes including non-verbal cues; roles of negotiations in international business; the international negotiation process, strategies and tactics of international negotiators; consumer culture, globalisation and culture, identities and culture.

Assessment Written (2 individual assignments approx. 1500 words each): 40% · Group oral presentation: 20% · Examination (2 hours): 40%
