Objectives On completion of this subject, students should be able to understand the link between human resource management strategy and organisational strategy, and the importance of human resource management strategy in enhancing organisational performance.
Synopsis The subject involves detailed study of the impact of the external and global environment on human resource strategy formulation. Special emphasis will be given to strategic human resource choices facing the organisation in the areas of recruitment and selection; training and development; performance appraisal; compensation; management of workforce diversity; and, organisational downsizing.

Assessment Individual case analysis (2000 words): 20% · Group presentation: 30% · Final examination: 50%
