Social and behavioural aspects of business technology

Objectives On completion of this subject students should be able to demonstrate an understanding of the social and behavioural issues currently impacting on the implementation and use of technology in organisations.

Synopsis The subject involves a study of the following topics: basic theories of management; socio-technical systems; technology and organisational structure; social acceptance of new technology; employee motivation and morale; approaches to introducing technological change; workforce diversity and technological change and social issues.

Assessment Group presentations: 20% · Case discussions and class participation: 10% · Individual research paper (2000 words): 30% · Examination (2 hours): 40%
