Human resource development

Objectives On completion of this subject students should have an understanding of the role of human resource development in organisations and in the context of environmental pressures and government policy; have the ability to examine the theoretical and design considerations in the development of training programs for the workplace; have gained some experience in developing and delivering presentations; the ability to recognise and critically evaluate the ethical issues involved in specific training techniques.

Synopsis This subject examines the various roles of human resource development in organisations: training; education; career guidance; and organisational development. It examines many of the applicable theories and factors affecting training outcomes; as well as the economic, ethical, legal and financial considerations.

Assessment Written assignments and presentations: 50% · Examination (2 hours): 50%
