Objectives On completion of this subject the student should have developed some business modelling skills, especially with spreadsheets; be able to formulate and solve straightforward linear programming, transportation, assignment and network problems; possess insights into the rationale of the methods used in solving these problems; have developed the analytical skills to tackle real world problems exhibiting a structure similar to those taught in this subject.
Synopsis Topics include business modelling with spreadsheets; the methodology of business modelling; linear programming; transportation and assignment problems; network models and project scheduling problems.
Assessment Written (2 assignments [computing and report]): 20% · Tutorial tests: 20% · Examination (2 hours): 60%
