Objectives On completion of this subject students should have a basic understanding of the methodology and principles of economics; have a basic understanding of micro and macro economics; be able to present arguments and make decisions in the economic environment. This unit is mainly for postgraduate conversion courses to qualify for admission to the professional accounting bodies.

Synopsis Topics include analysing supply and demand; macro and microeconomics; intermediate price theory; market structure; competitive policy; the macroeconomy; the Keynesian model; government stabilisation policy and policy debates.

Assessment Assignment (3000 words): 20% · Mid-semester test (1 hour): 30% · Examination (2 hours): 50%
