Objectives On completion of the subject students should have an in-depth understanding of the most recent research developments in a number of theoretical and specific areas of economics; an appreciation of the methodologies that are appropriate for the analysis of these issues; acquired sound understanding of the fundamental principles associated with the area of study; competence in the techniques of investigation that are typically used in this area of analysis; skills to pursue sound research projects independently in this area of study.

Synopsis This subject allows flexibility to explore various directions in the discipline in a more formal setting that is guided by staff expertise.

Assessment Continuous assessment and a three-hour examination or equivalent.
