Objectives On the completion of this subject students should understand the principal legal issues involved in providing finance and taking security; be able to make informed decisions in lending, recovering loans and enforcing security.
Synopsis Legislation controlling banks and non-bank financial institutions; capacity and authority to borrow and to grant security; loan decisions; securities and quasi-securities; lending on security of land, proceeds, goods; company charges; invalidation; bankruptcy and liquidation.
Assessment Assignment (2500 words): 30% · Examination (3 hours): 70%
