Objectives This course aims to develop your knowledge of research methods and common statistical techniques to a point where you can comment critically on research papers and carry out a research project in your professional area. This will involve discussion of issues in research design, study of a number of commonly-used statistical techniques (with an emphasis on their appropriate use and interpretation), use of computer statistical packages, and discussion of a number of published papers from a research design point of view.

Synopsis Given that business professionals are increasingly becoming involved in conducting research, it is vital that professionals are aware of the principles of research design and statistical testing of data. Professionals who are not actively involved in formal research must still be able to evaluate their work. Furthermore, it is essential for all business professionals to keep informed of development in their field. This requires reading professional journals and an ability to read articles critically.
