Objectives Successful completion of this subject should give students an understanding of Thai history and culture through literature.

Synopsis An introduction to some popular Thai classical literature of the Ratanakosin period for the purpose of gaining an insight into Thai culture and society and the changes Thai society has undergone. Material for this subject consists of extracts of literature and analysis.

Assessment Written assignment: 40% - Translations: 30% - Class presentation: 30%
