6 points - 4 hours per week - First semester - Berwick - Prerequisites: SPN1020R
Objectives Students successfully completing this subject should be able to understand and speak everyday Spanish, and to narrate and describe in oral and written forms, using different tenses and modes. Also, the subject aims at familiarising students with the every-day life of the Hispanic countries and at developing an understanding of the cultural diversity of those countries.
Synopsis The emphasis of this subject is on helping students refine their previously acquired skills in Spanish, especially in the areas of speaking, reading, writing and comprehension. Although a text is to be used throughout the semester, this will be complemented by a variety of activities and the use of different resources: music and film from the Hispanic world, the internet, participation in events conducted in Spanish, and conferences. In using these resources, the attempt is to familiarise students with the Hispanic World and to give them exposure to cultural realities not readily available in Australia.
