Objectives Students successfully completing this subject will have a thorough grasp of a number of issues within recent logic, philosophy of language, and semantics. They will have a clear understanding of the workings of a number of formal systems, and of their application to ordinary language; and should find themselves in a position to propose and evaluate analyses for themselves.
Synopsis This is an advanced subject in philosophical logic and philosophy of language. It deals with major recent work in the area. A reading list may be obtained from the department.
