Objectives Upon successful completion of this subject students should have broadened their perspective of compositional styles and possibilities and have attained a greater awareness of the analytical and technical requirements for effective musical composition.
Synopsis While studying the theoretical and practical aspects of contemporary music composition, students are guided in the selection, preparation and presentation of analyses based on a compositional model and then produce a composition using their analytical model as a basis, examining comtemporary aesthetics, technique and craft.
Assessment Folio (analysis and minor composition): 50% - Assignments and participation (equivalent 3000 words): 50%
