Orchestral and choral performance and repertoire

Objectives Upon successful completion of this subject student should have performed specific pieces in the orchestral repertoire and developed a basis for identifying elements of orchestral playing such as balance, intonation, style and appropriateness of performance, based on the study of orchestral literature.

Synopsis (i) Orchestral and choral rehearsals and concert performance of selected works, and (ii) the historical and theoretical study of the relevant orchestral repertoire. Note: different works from different periods are studied each semester.

Assessment Written (1000 words): 10% Practical examinations and concert performance: 90%
