Solo, orchestral and choral performance and repertoire I

Objectives Students successfully completing this subject should have gained an introduction in the research based performance of selected repertoire from a wide range of periods, completed the required body of technical work, including scales, arpeggios and studies as set out in the technical syllabus for the relevant instrument, demonstrated ensemble skills in two ensembles, and acquired basic skills in pitch, rhythm and textural recognition.

Synopsis The performance, performance practice, analysis and history of the student's chosen chief instrument repertoire, aural training and ensemble, orchestral and/or choral rehearsals and concert performance of selected works. Piano students must undertake piano accompaniment tasks as directed.

AssessmentWritten/Aural: 10% - Chief practical study examination 50% - Concert performance/ensemble practical examination: 40%
