Objectives To develop further the knowledge gained in KRS2010. On successful completion of this course students can expect to have gained an understanding of how the legacy of colonisation impacts upon Koorie/Aboriginal societies today, and of the issues affecting contemporary Koorie/Aboriginal communities by studying such areas as government policy and service provision.

Synopsis KRS2020 focuses on Aboriginal political organisations and actions; issues of Aboriginal heritage protection; Aboriginal experiences of the legal system; service provision in the areas of health and education; the meanings and uses of Aboriginal art; and the ways in which Aborigines have been constructed as 'other'. The course is presented through one lecture and a two-hour tutorial per week.

Assessment Research essay (3000 words): 45% - Class test (1 hour): 20% - Tutorial presentation and written paper (2000 words): 25% - Attendance and participation: 10%

A reading pack will be available from the Koorie Research Centre in the tutorial in the first week of semester.
