Objectives On successful completion of this subject students should have acquired social and cultural profiency in Korean. They should develop the ability in speaking and listening to comprehend enough to handle most everyday social situations, such as asking and talking about educational background, describing jobs, and asking and talking about everyday topics. In listening, they should start understanding expressions of different registers. In reading, they should be able to read highly simplified texts from magazines and newspapers, and in writing, they should be able to write a personal letter on simple everyday topics or a simple report on an everyday event.
Synopsis The aim of this subject is to achieve a deeper understanding of contemporary Korean language. Emphasis will be on active oral and writing skills and on socio-cultural aspects of communication.
Assessment Examinations (4 hours): 40% Quizzes: 20% Oral tests: 20% Homework and class participation: 20%
