Accelerated Japanese 3E/F: part 1

8 points - 4 hours per week - First semester - Clayton - Prerequisites: Level E Japanese or equivalent

Objectives Students successfully completing this subject should be able to comprehend Japanese related to social, political and cultural issues; actively join in discussion with native Japanese speakers on current issues in Japanese; provide consecutive interpreting in the dialogue mode; comprehend written Japanese presented in various styles and translate simple written texts.

Synopsis This is the fifth part of the accelerated Japanese program and is designed to bring the students close to the level of semi-native competence in both the spoken and written languages. Students will consult with a coordinator and choose two electives based on their strengths, weaknesses and interests. Options are 'interpreting', 'translation' and 'business communication'.

Assessment Dependant on student's choice of electives, based on the assessment requirements for an eight-point subject.
