Objectives Students successfully completing this subject should have increased their ability to extract the main points as well as to understand the details of an article, extended their knowledge of sentence patterns, expressions, vocabulary and kanji, and increased their knowledge of Japanese current affairs.

Synopsis This subject is designed to further extend the ability of students to comprehend written Japanese presented in a journalistic style. The subject involves extensive reading of newspapers and journal articles covering a wide range of topics in class. It also involves individual reading by each student to extend the vocabulary range in his/her specialised area. Students are expected to search for and to choose articles for their individual reading through the internet or by a hardcopy.

Assessment Tests: 80% -Presentation: 20%
