Introduction to Japanese business communication

Objectives Students successfully completing this subject should have gained a familiarity with a broad range of topics on Japanese business communication to interact with Japanese. Students should be able to gain interactive competence in business situations, such as meeting business personnel, telephoning and business meetings.

Synopsis This subject aims to develop the basic knowledge and skills of communication applicable in Japanese business organisations in Japan and Australia. It includes an analysis of problems in how to interact in a basic business contact situation. The emphasis is placed upon spoken communication. Participation in visits to Japanese companies or business meetings is also a part of the subject program.

Assessment Project 40% -Essay 40% -Test (1.5 hours): 20%
