Objectives As for HSY2600 with the additional objective that students should acquire greater understanding of the key conceptual and methodological issues involved in using different kinds of literary and historical texts.

Synopsis As for HSY2600.

Assessment Book review (900 words): 20% - Two tutorial reports (300 words each): 10% - Research essay (2500 words): 45% - Test (2 hours): 25% - Optional 2000-word essay in place of test. Third-year students will be expected to demonstrate more sophisticated analytical skills and submit work incorporating a higher level of competence in independent reading and research.
