Advanced German language 3, part 2

4 points - 2 hours per week - Second semester - Clayton - Prerequisites: GRN2515 - Prohibitions: GRN2225, GRN2325, GRN2425 or GRN2625

Objectives This subject builds upon the skills and knowledge gained in GRN2515. Objectives of part 1 as for GRN2515. Part 2: German linguistics Upon successful completion of this part of the course students should have a working knowledge of phonology and morphology and their application to Modern Standard German. Students should also have learned the basics of the history of the German language and of its genetic relationship with other languages of Europe and Asia.

Synopsis Part 1: Spoken and written German. Part 2: Introduction to German linguistics. Introduction to the theory of language as applied to German.

Assessment Written (1200 words): 30% - Examinations (3 hours): 70%
