Professional communication and presentation (non-Arts subject)

6 points - One 2-hour workshop, and two hours of combined practical and tutorial work per week - First semester - Clayton, Caulfield - Prohibitions: BUS2030, CSC1040, GCO1063, SYS2204

Objectives On completion of the subject, students should be able to plan and deliver effective technical presentations; plan and effectively participate in meetings; evaluate different communication technologies and have the skills to communicate appropriately using the given medium. Special emphasis will be placed on Web communication and teamwork

Synopsis Topics covered include the Internet as a communication medium; Web design; computer-aided visuals; technical communication; theories of communication; group process; interpersonal communication; non-verbal communication; intercultural communication; interview skills; meeting procedure and oral and visual techniques of persuasion.
