Project planning and research for visual communication

Objectives On successful completion of this subject student should be able to analyse the issues in a range of visual communication projects; identify key issue/options that are likely to affect the outcome of the project; develop strategies for undertaking research and design for projects; select the appropriate research methods; select appropriate design and communication methods; undertake computer-based scheduling of the management of the design project and its implementation.

Synopsis This subject investigates projects and research management strategies. Topics include research methods and their application, the range of the visual communication (research) issues, users, clients, technology and production. The range of project management issues, contracts - contract law, contract administration, estimating authority approvals, cost planning, staff resource allocation, costing, budget planning. Computer based project schedules and resource allocation, time schedules, and critical path networks for sub projects with multi-activities.
