Transportation design 1

3 points - 2 studio hours and 4 study hours per week - Second Semester - Caulfield - Prerequisites: IDE2602 and IDE2103 - Corequisites: none - Prohibitions: none - Elective

Objectives On successful completion of this subject, students should be able to sketch their preliminary transportation concepts; detail their design solutions using appropriate means and materials; analyse transport design problems; understand transportation design styling terms; and understand the types of materials, construction techniques, advances in engineering and technology that have recently occurred in the automotive/transportation industries.

Synopsis This subject introduces the field of transportation design including materials technology, ergonomics, social and environmental issues, and transportation design history. Project work will be undertaken using the appropriate drawing and rendering techniques to initiate and present transportation concepts.
