Objectives On successful completion of this subject, students should be reasonably familiar with and understand the key conceptual issues relating to the medium of print; be able to research, write on and discuss historical, aesthetic, and contemporary theoretical issues; either be innovative in their use of materials and concepts or be strongly exploring with traditional processes and iconography; be able to independently research and resource materials relevant to individual needs and interests; and implement safe workshop practices at all times.
Synopsis The studio practice involves projects dealing with print including the more experimental collagraph and monoprint as well as the editioned print, where there is an emphasis on experimentation in ideas and materials. Formal and informal seminars discuss contemporary attitudes relating to print and visual art and provide a forum to review and critique work produced. Students are encouraged to discuss and hone the concepts employed in their work developed from their past year of study. Reading and research projects will also be set.
