Collage, montage and assemblage

6 points - 3 studio hours and 9 independent study hours per week - First or second semester - Caulfield - Prerequisites: Any of DWG1102, DWG1202, DWG1301 or DWG1401 - Elective

Objectives On successful completion of this subject, students should be able to articulate a concept through the juxtaposition and manipulation of found images and materials; possess a good working knowledge of a variety and range of materials, processes and techniques; have the ability to combine materials with discrimination, resourcefulness and imagination; have the ability to complete a self-initiated collage/ assemblage project; have some understanding of the use of collage in twentieth-century art.

Synopsis This subject offers students of art and design the opportunity to explore 'constructed drawing' in depth. Through a series of set projects, slide lectures and discussion students will work towards greater independence and develop an individual project that may support or relate to their major study.
